The Red River Education and Research Park is a 585-acre wetland abutting the Red River. This wetland laboratory is located adjacent to the Louisiana State University in Shreveport (LSUS) campus, and is a model of multiple use strategies. The park is the site of various cutting-edge environmental research programs led by LSUS in collaboration with other academic, business/industrial, local, state, and federal entities. Since establishment of this unique partnership, the park has been jointly managed by the City of Shreveport, LA and LSUS. Both the city and LSUS are dedicated to fostering awareness, appreciation and protection of the unique wetland ecosystem of the park and the entire Red River Watershed through facilitating educational, research, and recreational opportunities at the park.
